Peter got involved with the sport of rowing after wanting to get one up on his older brother. Soon things escalated, finding himself addicted to what the sport offered and how results were achieved, through hard work and technical ability. This was in 1997 and since then he has gone onto win titles at Secondary School Championships, National Club Championships, Under 23 World Championships and World Championships.
His most cherished moment comes at the London 2012 Olympics where he won New Zealand the Bronze Medal. Today, Peter is targeting the Rio 2016 Olympics along with his Avanti Corsa DR2 bike. Cycling has an integral part of the training programme as he is able to increase the stress on the body (getting in more training hours) without the burden of strain on the body. Leading to a higher level of fitness which will bring him closer to his best. Proudest BIke moment: At the 2013 Lake Taupo Challenge Race for which the Lightweight Rowing team kept up with the lead pack that lead to a sprint finish. I didn't do well in the sprint but coming across the line with the team still together.
