Action Downunder - Stay up right

Hey team,

Wee update on things so far. Trip is going well, have settled in nicely at Marc's place and things have been pretty full throttle since arriving with a hectic day out at Interbike to pretty much being thrust into the week leading into the World Cup. Bike parts and the like all going well, and ,loving the light fly race kit in this heat.

Chula Vista was a huge disappointment with me bombing out in Time Trials. Practice was going just amazingly with me maybe getting beat to the first corner once in both days of practice and not making more than one mistake around what is known to be a very gnarly track. That mistake just happened to be in a very windy time trial lap over one of the pro jumps resulting in me having to pump through the following jump and losing all speed. I finished off the lap in anger and with that mistake and 120 odd guys being cut to 64 it means game is over. I was however about .4 off the qualifying time which means I would have had absolutely no issues without that mistake.

This weekend was spent in Fresno at a pro round, two day event with all the big names and plenty of internationals hanging around after the world cup to get in some racing. Day one was going great with some tough motos but I was right in the mix on points for a direct qualifying through to the Semi Finals but had a big crash with Tory Nyhaug the Canadian rider battling for the lead into the first turn. It was a very fast and tight track with a heap of crashes, I managed to do a good job of tearing apart my elbow pads, lost some paint off my helmet and snapped the back of my Leatt. Looking forward to the photos as I got punished. Fair to say its lucky I had the brace on as the turns were concrete. With that crash meant I no longer had the points to qualify through.

Onto day two:

Body was hurting today and the thought of pulling the pin and getting ready for the next event in 3 weeks time crossed my mind but I was confident I could get it done today but it wasn't to be, started off the day with two punctures before the first moto should have been a sign for me to shut it down and put the Avanti on the rack but I continued on to get a top 4 qualifying spot first moto, then getting shafted with lane 6 then 7 for the final two was going to be hard work and today just wasn't my day failing to qualify by 2 points meant I had to watch the finals from the side-line today.

Onwards and upwards they say! Got some unreal confidence from the weekend however even though nothing seemed to click!!

Really looking forward to laying down some good laps in Florida!!!

Hope things are doing well back in New Zealand and I will touch base again soon.
