Well it's time to get back on the plane again bound for NZ. Another great trip to Cebu for the Cobra 70.3 Philippines and even more enjoyable when your wife gets to come along and relax at the beautiful Shangri La hotel with you. My race went pretty well considering how much training I have done since Roth, Germany. My foot also survived the race which was pleasing. I was just 30secs down on the second group out of the water and tried to quickly gather them in as quickly as I could and I managed to bridge the gap after 15km. The group contained Aussies Chris McCormack, Pete Jacobs, David Dellow, Josh Rix and Canadian Brett McMahon. Courtney Atkinson was up the road putting more time into us and had a 3min plus lead at the end of the bike.
I was happy to see the sun stayed away the entire day as it would have been meltdown material out on the run course if it did happen to show it's face, even still the heat index was 35c with the humidity well over 90%. My legs left me on the run as I didn't have much in the tank after a tough three weeks between Challenge Roth and this race. Still I was happy to finish in 6th with a world class field in front of me. I arrive home on Tuesday and then fly straight to Samoa on Wednesday night for the inaugural Samoa Half Ironman this weekend. The highlight of the race was having Black eyed Pea's singer Apl.de.ap in the event racing in the team section(doing the bike) and meeting him!
I'll be in touch after my race this weekend in Samoa.
